Danny Holmes

Previous clubs: Tranmere Rovers, The New Saints, Newport County, AFC Fylde, York City
Biography: Birkenhead-born Holmes is a product of the Tranmere Rovers youth system, where he captained the youth and reserve sides before signing professional terms in July 2007.

Released by the Prenton Park club two years later, he joined The New Saints and collected the WPL title in his first season at Park Hall, and starred in their UEFA Champions League campaign the following season.

Holmes returned to Tranmere Rovers in the summer of 2011 and, after an initial loan period with Fleetwood Town, went on to make a total of 133 English Football League appearances (scoring 4 goals) during a four-year spell at Prenton Park.

Following Tranmere’s relegation in to the National League, Holmes joined League Two club Newport County for the 2015/16 season, making a further 35 EFL appearances for The Exiles.

Wing-back Holmes, who is equally comfortable in defence or midfield, began the 2016/17 season with National League North club AFC Fylde, before transferring to National League club York City in November 2016.

Holmes made 21 National League appearances (1 goal) while at Bootham Crescent and also collected an FA Trophy winner’s medal with the Minstermen as they beat Macclesfield Town 3-2 at Wembley in May 2017.
