CITIZENS HIT THE GROUND RUNNING

Braces from Davies & Darlington secure opening day win
The home side wasted no time in making their presence felt in the second tier, with Alex Darlington putting away a good chance after some neat build-up play with just five minutes on the clock.
Things got even better for the hosts soon after when returning hero LES DAVIES powered in a header at the far post on ten minutes after as fine delivery from JACOB FARLEIGH, and they trebled their advantage on the quarter hour mark thanks to a stunning free-kick from midfielder Tom Field.
City sealed the points just before the break when an excellent exchange from Davies and Darlington presented an opportunity to the latter, and he delicately lobbed the visiting keeper from the edge of the area for his second of the afternoon after 42 minutes.
Credit to the visitors, who continued to battle hard after the restart and got their reward on 54 minutes when a rare attack ended with a Keiron Moore finish to give them a consolation for their efforts.
This provoked a strong response from the Citizens, who restored their four-goal cushion after 65 minutes when Davies bagged his brace after outstanding work down the right-hand side from Field and ALEX BOSS.
