Citizens Hit Five Against Anglesey Select XI
Bangor City continue their UEFA Europa League preparations with a 5-0 win over an Anglesey Select XI on Wednesday evening
With just over a week to go before The Citizens pit their wits against Danish Superliga club Lyngby BK in the First Qualifying Round of the UEFA Europa League, the squad gained another ninety minutes of vital match practice against an Anglesey Select XI.
On the longest day of the year, The Citizens were soon into their stride as midfielder Danny Gosset struck home a lobbed Damien Allen pass in the early stages of the match.
City doubled the advantage with Assistant Manager Gary Taylor-Fletcher finishing sweetly from Dean Rittenberg's cross from the right flank.
Last season's top goalscorer Daniel Nardiello also got in on the act before the interval as the former Wales international netted after the Ynys Mon keeper had denied both Gary Roberts and Taylor-Fletcher.
Half Time: Anglesey Select XI 0-3 Bangor City
In the second half, club record signing Brayden Shaw added City's fourth as the former Accrington Stanley starlet finished neatly beyond the Anglesey keeper. A fifth and final goal arrived courtesy of one of several trailists who appeared after the interval as City build momentum ahead of the upcoming UEFA Europa League matches.
The Anglesey Select XI will also have benefitted from the ninety minutes as they prepare for the 2017 Island Games which will be held in Gotland (Sweden) between 24-30 June.
