Citizens Reserves Hit Llanberis for Six to Go Top of the Table

Bangor City Reserves continue their Welsh Alliance title challenge by despatching third-place Llanberis Reserves 6-2

Bangor City Reserves seized the opportunity to go top of the Welsh Alliance Reserves Division on Friday night with an emphatic 6-2 victory over visitors Llanberis.

Goals from Alex Boss, Shaun Cavanagh and Sam Jones gave City an early 3-0 lead before Llanberis struck back with a spectacular strike shortly before half time. Undaunted, the young Citizens responded immediately with Alex Boss netting his second of the evening to make the score 4-1 at the interval.

Continuous pressure from the home side in the second half saw them extend their lead to 5-1 courtesy of Shaun Cavanagh's firmly struck shot midway through the second period. Llanberis managed to reduce the arrears before Aiden Clarke rounded off a fine performance from City's second string with the sixth goal of the evening late on.

City now lead the Division overnight with a two point gap over title rivals Denbigh Town, who play Llandudno Junction away on Saturday afternoon.

1 Leon Jones (GK), 2 Cai Owen, 3 Meredydd Derbyshire, 4 Tim Cavanagh, 5 Adam Pritchard, 6 Ifan Emlyn Jones, 7 Sam Jones, 8 Aiden Clarke, 9 Rory Kelly (12 Guto Williams), 10 Shaun Cavanagh ©, 11 Alex Boss (14 Gruff Stead).
