Bangor City's Development side Blitz Canaries with Second Half Onslaught
Fresh from a 3-1 win against newly crowned Welsh Premier Development North champions The New Saints, Bangor City's Under-19 Development side produced a powerhouse performance against Caernarfon Town on Thursday night.
The Citizens went ahead after nine minutes as Canaries keeper Osian Goulding struggled to hold a Gruff Stead corner kick delivery and Alex Boss swept the loose ball home from close range.
A second Bangor goal duly arrived after 17 minutes as leading marksman Sam Jones found time and space inside the right hand side of the penalty area to calmly curl the ball around the advancing Goulding into the empty Caernarfon net for a 2-0 lead.
Chances came and went for both sides with City creating plentiful opportunities but lacking the clinical touch when needed. At the other end, Bangor guardian Leon Jones was alert to the danger posed by the Canaries attacking threat.

A breathless opening to the second period saw City extend their lead within two minutes of the restart. Sam Jones produced the necessary ruthlessness as he applied an emphatic right-footed finish from ten yards out as he raced through on the left hand side of the penalty area.
Two minutes later and Sam Jones turned provider as a deft touch played Sam Ashworth in on goal and the City midfielder finished with the outside of his right boot into the top left hand corner of the Caernarfon net.
From the restart, the Canaries forced a corner down the right flank and from the resulting delivery, Cai Morgan rose highest to plant a powerful header beyond Leon Jones to reduce the arrears to 1-4.
Just before the hour mark, right back Geraint Jones produced a superb whipped delivery from the bye line which was met by Jake Jones from six-yards range to leave Canaries keeper Goulding with no chance.
On 71 minutes, substitute Cai Huws - replacing the lively Alex Boss just three minutes earlier - profited from a mix-up in the Caernarfon defence to stab home City's sixth of the evening with the hosts now struggling to contain the rampant Citizens.
Three minutes later and City were awarded a spot kick for a foul by Canaries substitute Rhys Griffiths which earned the replacement centre back the evening's first yellow card. Sam Jones drove the penalty kick to Goulding's left but the Caernarfon keeper saved with a firm pair of hands to parry behind for a corner kick.
With the match entering its closing stages, Sam Jones saw a shot blocked by Goulding when one-on-one with the Canaries keeper but Sam Ashworth was on hand to bury the rebound for City's seventh goal of the evening.
Not content with scoring his first goals since returning to Bangor, midfielder Sam Ashworth afforded himself a wry smile as he completed his hat-trick in the final minute. Substitute Tom Innes threaded a ball through to the right hand edge of the penalty area for Ashworth and City's number ten caught Goulding unawares at his near post as he finished from a tight angle for City's eighth of the night.
