Brilliant performance by Bangor City U12 Girls in close home defeat to Corwen!!!
Excellent showing from City's U12 Girls in tough encounter with numerical disadvantage!!!
Outstanding performance by Bangor City FC U12 Girls in their North Wales Girls League Home fixture V Corwen. Incredible performance by the girls with just 7 players playing against 9 from Corwen the level of effort and intensity demonstrated by the girls was 2nd to none. In awful conditions with the odds stacked against them the girls were immense and came away with a narrow 2-1 defeat!!
Corwen just shaved a close 1st half 1-0 after bundling the ball over the line from a corner. However, with 2 less players and playing into the wind the girls not only kept themselves in the game but also created some chances of their own with Cerys Parry drawing a good save from the opposition keeper and Charley Marr shooting narrowly wide.
However, Corwen's slender advantage was doubled quickly in the 2nd half as a fast counter attack saw them take a 2-0 lead. Despite falling further behind so quickly the girls did not let this phase them, kept their heads held high, kept playing at an outstanding level with girls great intensity and created more fantastic chances going forward.
Breaking down the packed Corwen defence was tough for the team, due to the oppositions numerical advantage, but the girls through Cerys Charley and Gwen Roberts kept driving forward trying to create space in the final 3rd and eventually they were rewarded for their endeavour!!! Brilliant and quick build up play between Gwen and Charley saw the latter play the ball through for Cerys to run on to who collected and calmly slotted past the Goalkeeper to make it 2-1!!! With less than 10 minutes to go the girls through everything forward trying to get an equaliser but we're unable to get another breakthrough against the resolute Corwen back-line.
Player of the Match for Bangor was Charley Marr who was full of creativity always posing problems for the opposition and Managers Player's of the Match were Sinead Blackham and Tara Blackham who were both incredible in defence in a tough scenario!!! Fantastic performances all round girls well done, keep up the hard work!!!
