4 in a row for City's U12 Girls
Another outstanding performance by Bangor's U12 Girls
Saturday 21st November saw Bangor City's U12 girls secure a 4th consecutive win with victory in their North Wales League away fixture V Prestatyn. The performance of the season so far by the girls saw them defeat the high flying, 2nd placed Prestatyn 4-3.
Despite making a good start and creating 2 excellent chances in the opening minutes of the game, Bangor soon found themselves 1-0 down after a counterattack from 1 of our spurned chances led to a goal. However, despite getting behind so early in the match the girls did not let this phase them kept working hard and playing their football and were soon back in the game. Good pressure in the attacking 3rd led to Reaghan Smith winning the ball driving past the defence and smashing the ball into the back of the net at the 2nd attempt after her 1st shot was parried. Shortly after Bangor took the lead after more good team play saw Charley Marr run in behind and slot home to make it 2-1.
However, despite the outstanding work rate and effort in the opening 15 minutes, the girls let their levels slip and a couple of errors saw Prestatyn find a way back into the match after scoring 2 unanswered goals to take a 3-2 lead into the break.
The 2nd half saw the team take a re-invigorated approach to the game, began the half and continued it in the same vein as the start of the match and were soon dominating the game again. Much better pressure on the opposition and a quicker release of the ball going forward saw the girls create a number of good chances, drawing some excellent saves from the opposing keeper alongside being denied by the woodwork, however, they were unable to make this superiority count. Bangor kept playing their football and working hard and their efforts soon paid off as Gwen Roberts broke free and drew the scores level after slotting the ball into the back of the net. Within minutes the girls had re-taken the lead as Charley Marr netted her 2nd of the game after great individual work down the left and a strong finish into the roof of the net.
The team showed excellent maturity in the final 5 minutes of the match, after wasting chances to make the game safe, great organisation and work ethic ensured that the girls held onto the lead to extend their winning streak to 4 matches.
Player of the Match was Charley Marr and Managers Player of the Match was Sinead Blackham.
Another outstanding performance girls, well done, keep up the hard work!!!
