Wales Under-21 Squad Named for Euro Qualifiers

2 months ago By Kevin Owen

Bangor-born Nathan Broadhead (Everton) among players selected for international double-header at VSM Bangor Stadium in November

Robert Page has named an 18-man squad as Wales Under-21s prepare for a European Championship qualifying double-header in November.
Wales’ youngsters take on Bosnia and Herzegovina on Friday, November 10 before facing Romania four days later (November 14) with both games being played at the VSM Bangor City Football Club Stadium. (6pm kick-off).

Page’s side are currently fourth in Group 8 with six points from their opening three matches.

Wins over Switzerland and Liechtenstein – either side of a narrow defeat to Portugal – means Wales are in a strong position heading into back-to-back home fixtures in North Wales.

Page welcomes back Chris Mepham after the defender missed the win over Liechtenstein through suspension, while Liverpool’s Harry Wilson returns to the squad.

WALES U21 SQUAD:

GOALKEEPERS: Luke Pilling (Tranmere Rovers), Owen Evans (Wigan Athletic).

DEFENDERS: Cola Dasilva (Chelsea), Cameron Coxe (Cardiff City), Chris Mepham (Brentford), Regan Poole (Manchester United – on loan at Northampton), Rhys Abbruzzese (Cardiff City), Joe Rodon (Swansea City).

MIDFIELDERS: Matthew Smith (Manchester City), Nathan Broadhead (Everton), Jack Evans (Swansea City), Mark Harris (Cardiff City), Joe Morrell (Bristol City – on loan at Cheltenham).

FORWARDS: Tyler Roberts (West Bromwich Albion – on loan at Walsall), George Thomas (Leicester City), Rabbi Matondo (Manchester City), Daniel James (Swansea City), Harry Wilson (Liverpool).
