New Link Launched with Manchester City

By Kevin Owen

Bangor City Academy Builds Links with Manchester City Football Academy

The link was developed at the end of the 2014-15 season after a Manchester City scout saw our Academy teams enjoying a successful FAW Futsal tournament on Deeside.

On the back of this, Academy Director Melfyn Jones attended a meeting with Manchester City representatives at the Etihad Training Complex. In order to establish this link Bangor City's U7 and U8 squads visited the Etihad for matches against Manchester City's own academy teams.

Two of Bangor City's Academy players have been picked up from Bangor's visits to the Etihad Stadium. Annia Denham has now signed for Manchester City U9 Girls, and she goes training at the City Football Academy training complex every Wednesday. Another of our Academy players Rio Owen was also spotted by the coaches of Manchester City and has subsequently been on trial with their U10 Elite Squad.

Carl Jones, Bangor City Academy Coach, has now been made a scout for Manchester City for the local area.
