CLUB NEWS | Gosset Named in Wales C International Squad

3 weeks ago By Kevin Owen

Bangor City midfielder Danny Gosset named in the Wales C International Squad to face England C in a friendly match in Barry on Tuesday, 20 March.

The Football Association of Wales has today (Wednesday 28 February) announced the Wales C International Squad to face England C in a friendly match at Jenner Park in Barry on Tuesday 20 March.

Manager Mark Jones and assistant manager Owain Tudur Jones have selected a squad of 18 players from the JD Welsh Premier League, plus two players that will train with the squad in the camp before the game.

Reigning Champions The New Saints are represented by Aeron Edwards and Connell Rawlinson.

Rawlinson has been with the Saints since 2010, and has won fifteen trophies in that time period, including six Welsh Premier League titles. Team-mate Edwards has one more, having been at the heart of the Saints’ midfield since 2009.

There’s plenty representation from sides in the top half of this season’s table.

Bangor City’s Danny Gosset has stood out in his second season at the club with his composed performances in midfield. Joining Gosset is teammate Guto Williams, called up as one of the two players to train with the squad in camp alongside Prestatyn Town’s Noah Edwards.

Noah won’t be the only member of his family in the squad, as brother Kai has also been selected from Connah’s Quay Nomads, alongside defensive partner Mike Pearson and midfielder Jay Owen.

Cefn Druids defender Naim Arsan is no stranger to wearing the red of Wales, having represented his country in Futsal, and has impressed in a Druids side that defied many pundits predictions to finish in the top six as the league split in January.

Bala Town and Cardiff Met will each be represented by two players.

For Bala, stalwarts Ashley Morris and Chris Venables have over 500 WPL appearances between them, and were both part of last year’s Welsh Cup winning side.

Met duo Adam Roscrow and Eliot Evans have 21 goals between them this season, and won the League’s Player of the Month for August and October respectively.

Arsan’s Futsal team-mate, Chris Hugh, is one of four Barry Town United players in with a chance of representing their country at their home ground.

Striker Kayne McLaggon has been terrorising defenders since moving to Barry in the summer, and he joins goalkeeper Mike Lewis and midfielder Jordan Cotterill in the squad.

Newtown defender T. Craig Williams is a veteran of the league, having made over 300 appearances for his hometown club, and offers versatility across the back line.

Finishing the squad, and the attacking options at Jones’ disposal, are Aberystwyth Town’s John Owen, and Llandudno’s Toby Jones, both of whom have impressed with recent performances.

Tickets for the game are available on and from the clubhouse at Jenner Park. The game will also be streamed online by S4C on the Sgorio Facebook page and on the S4C website.
