Citizens Sign Two in Transfer Window

By Kevin Owen

Bangor City FC is delighted to announce the signings of full-back/midfielder Jack Metcalf and the experienced Paul Connolly

Equally comfortable at either full-back or in midfield, 25-year-old Metcalf was brought up through the youth ranks at Liverpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers. A move into US college football followed with Clemson University’s senior men’s football side Clemson Tigers. Graduating in 2013, Metcalf signed professional terms with the expansion Charlotte Independence, an affiliate of MLS’ Colorado Rapids, of the United Soccer League. Metcalf made 21 regular season and 1 play off appearance for Charlotte during the 2016 season.

34-year-old Connolly came through the youth ranks at Plymouth Argyle and went on to make more than 300 English Football League appearances for the Pilgrims, Derby County, Leeds United, Millwall, Crawley Town and Luton Town.

Defender Connolly has also appeared for Sheffield United, Portsmouth and Preston North End on loan, and signed for Airbus UK Broughton from National League North club Stockport County during the summer. Connolly has made 16 Dafabet WPL appearances this season: 12 for the Wingmakers and 4 more with The Citizens.

Both signings are subject to clearance.
