Bangor City U19's suffer loss on WPDL MD1
Young U19's lose to late Airbus winner after taking two goal lead in nervous start to season opener.
Bangor City U19’s started the defence of their Welsh Premier Development League title on Sunday 27/08/17 away at Airbus with Coach Dave Cavanagh naming four players in the match day squad with no previous playing experience at this level.
Louis McFarlane making his debut for City’s U19’s was named in central defence together with Geraint Jones, Jason Banks and Ben Williams who were all named on the bench.
City started the game brightly and found the net within 6 minutes with a lovely taken shot into the corner by Math Roberts after a great solo run by Alex Boss.
Gethin Thomas increased City’s lead on 10 minutes finishing off a good phase of play to put the young Citizens into a comfortable lead, however Airbus found a goal with a great strike which gave keeper Leon Jones no chance on 14 minutes.
Airbus then got a foothold in the game and began to pressure City’s defence which caused a misplaced pass to be presented to an Airbus striker to finish and level up the game.

City started the second half well but couldn't force an early goal and as a result of pushing forward City allowed Airbus to break and score making it 3-2 for the home side. City gave debuts to a further three youngsters when Ben Williams, Jason Banks and Geraint Jones came on to freshen up the Citizens and it seemed to work as Sam Jones capitalised on an Airbus defensive error to score an equaliser on 60 minutes (Airbus UK Broughton U19 3-3 Bangor City U19). City now pushed for a winner but left themselves a little exposed at the back allowing Airbus to score a late winner and win the game 4-3.
